A vulnerability was found in Craft CMS up to 4.12.1/5.4.2. It has been declared as critical. Affected by this vulnerability is the function FileHelper::absolutePath. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a path traversal vulnerability. The CWE definition for the vulnerability is CWE-22. The product uses external input to construct a pathname that is intended to identify a file or directory that is located underneath a restricted parent directory, but the product does not properly neutralize special elements within the pathname that can cause the pathname to resolve to a location that is outside of the restricted directory. Craft is a content management system (CMS). Prior to 4.12.2 and 5.4.3, Craft is missing normalizePath in the function FileHelper::absolutePath could lead to Remote Code Execution on the server via twig SSTI. This is a sequel to CVE-2023-40035. This vulnerability is fixed in 4.12.2 and 5.4.3.
