A vulnerability, which was classified as critical, has been found in needrestart up to 3.7 (Operating System Utility Software). This issue affects an unknown functionality of the component Environment Variable Handler. Qualys discovered that needrestart, before version 3.8, allows local attackers to execute arbitrary code as root by tricking needrestart into running the Python interpreter with an attacker-controlled PYTHONPATH environment variable.
