Details
A vulnerability classified as critical has been found in Advantech EKI-6333AC-2G, EKI-6333AC-2GD and EKI-6333AC-1GPO (the affected version unknown). Affected is the function applications_apply of the component API. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a os command injection vulnerability. CWE is classifying the issue as CWE-78. The product constructs all or part of an OS command using externally-influenced input from an upstream component, but it does not neutralize or incorrectly neutralizes special elements that could modify the intended OS command when it is sent to a downstream component. This is going to have an impact on confidentiality, integrity, and availability. CVE summarizes:
A CWE-78 "Improper Neutralization of Special Elements used in an OS Command ('OS Command Injection')" was discovered affecting the following devices manufactured by Advantech: EKI-6333AC-2G (<= 1.6.3), EKI-6333AC-2GD (<= v1.6.3) and EKI-6333AC-1GPO (<= v1.2.1). The source of the vulnerability relies on multiple parameters belonging to the "applications_apply" API which are not properly sanitized before being concatenated to OS level commands.
The weakness was presented by Diego Zaffaroni. The advisory is shared for download at nozominetworks.com. This vulnerability is traded as CVE-2024-50366 since 10/23/2024.
