Details
A vulnerability was found in Qualcomm Snapdragon Auto, Snapdragon Compute, Snapdragon Consumer IOT, Snapdragon Industrial IOT, Snapdragon Mobile and Snapdragon Wearables. It has been rated as critical. This issue affects some unknown processing of the component Sensor Packet Parser. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a use of out-of-range pointer offset vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-823. The product performs pointer arithmetic on a valid pointer, but it uses an offset that can point outside of the intended range of valid memory locations for the resulting pointer. Impacted is confidentiality, integrity, and availability. The summary by CVE is:
Memory corruption while parsing sensor packets in camera driver, user-space variable is used while allocating memory in kernel and parsing which can lead to huge allocation or invalid memory access.
It is possible to read the advisory at docs.qualcomm.com. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2024-33036 since 04/23/2024. The exploitation is known to be easy. Attacking locally is a requirement. Additional levels of successful authentication are necessary for exploitation. The technical details are unknown and an exploit is not publicly available.
