Details
A vulnerability, which was classified as problematic, was found in cpaint up to Pre1.0. This affects an unknown code block of the file cpaint2.inc.php of the component Error Message Handler. The manipulation of the argument cpaint_response_type with an unknown input leads to a cross site scripting vulnerability. CWE is classifying the issue as CWE-80. The product receives input from an upstream component, but it does not neutralize or incorrectly neutralizes special characters such as "<", ">", and "&" that could be interpreted as web-scripting elements when they are sent to a downstream component that processes web pages. This is going to have an impact on integrity. The summary by CVE is:
Cross-site scripting (XSS) vulnerability in cpaint2.inc.php in the CPAINT library before 2.0.3, as used in multiple scripts, allows remote attackers to inject arbitrary web script or HTML via the cpaint_response_type parameter, which is displayed in a resulting error message, as demonstrated using a hex-encoded IFRAME tag.
