A vulnerability has been found in Citrix Presentation Server up to 4.0 (Connectivity Software) and classified as critical. Affected by this vulnerability is an unknown code block in the library ccprov.dll. The manipulation as part of a Print Request leads to a memory corruption vulnerability. The CWE definition for the vulnerability is CWE-119. The product performs operations on a memory buffer, but it can read from or write to a memory location that is outside of the intended boundary of the buffer. As an impact it is known to affect confidentiality, integrity, and availability. The summary by CVE is:

Stack-based buffer overflow in the print provider library (cpprov.dll) in Citrix Presentation Server 4.0, MetaFrame Presentation Server 3.0, and MetaFrame XP 1.0 allows local users and remote attackers to execute arbitrary code via long arguments to the (1) EnumPrintersW and (2) OpenPrinter functions.

The bug was discovered 01/24/2006. The weakness was published 01/25/2007 with ZDI (Website). It is possible to read the advisory at zerodayinitiative.com. This vulnerability is known as CVE-2007-0444 since 01/23/2007. The attack can be launched remotely. The exploitation doesn't need any form of authentication. A public exploit has been developed in ANSI C. It is possible to download the exploit at securityfocus.com. It is declared as proof-of-concept.
