Niels Provos Honeyd up to 1.5a IP Stack information disclosure

CVSS Meta Temp Score
CVSS is a standardized scoring system to determine possibilities of attacks. The Temp Score considers temporal factors like disclosure, exploit and countermeasures. The unique Meta Score calculates the average score of different sources to provide a normalized scoring system.
Current Exploit Price (≈)
Our analysts are monitoring exploit markets and are in contact with vulnerability brokers. The range indicates the observed or calculated exploit price to be seen on exploit markets. A good indicator to understand the monetary effort required for and the popularity of an attack.
CTI Interest Score
Our Cyber Threat Intelligence team is monitoring different web sites, mailing lists, exploit markets and social media networks. The CTI Interest Score identifies the interest of attackers and the security community for this specific vulnerability in real-time. A high score indicates an elevated risk to be targeted for this vulnerability.

Detailsinfo

A vulnerability was found in Niels Provos Honeyd up to 1.5a and classified as problematic. This issue affects some unknown processing of the component IP Stack. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a information disclosure vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-200. The product exposes sensitive information to an actor that is not explicitly authorized to have access to that information. Impacted is confidentiality. The summary by CVE is:

Niels Provos Honeyd before 1.5 replies to certain illegal IP packet fragments that other IP stack implementations would drop, which allows remote attackers to identify IP addresses that are being simulated using honeyd.

The weakness was shared 02/17/2006 by Jon Oberheide (Website). The advisory is shared at securityfocus.com. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2006-0752 since 02/18/2006. The exploitation is known to be easy. The attack may be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is needed for a successful exploitation. Neither technical details nor an exploit are publicly available. MITRE ATT&CK project uses the attack technique T1592 for this issue.

It is declared as proof-of-concept.

Upgrading to version 1.5 eliminates this vulnerability.
