Details
A vulnerability, which was classified as critical, was found in Thomastsoi Quirex 2.0/2.0.2. Affected is an unknown function of the file convert.cgi. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a path traversal vulnerability. CWE is classifying the issue as CWE-22. The product uses external input to construct a pathname that is intended to identify a file or directory that is located underneath a restricted parent directory, but the product does not properly neutralize special elements within the pathname that can cause the pathname to resolve to a location that is outside of the restricted directory. This is going to have an impact on confidentiality. CVE summarizes:
Absolute path traversal vulnerability in convert.cgi in Quirex 2.0.2 and earlier allows remote attackers to read arbitrary files, and possibly execute arbitrary code, via the (1) quiz_head, (2) quiz_foot, and (3) template variables.
