Details
A vulnerability has been found in ltdrdata ComfyUI-Impact-Pack up to 7.6.1 and classified as critical. This vulnerability affects an unknown functionality of the file /upload/temp of the component POST Request Handler. The manipulation of the argument filename with an unknown input leads to a path traversal vulnerability. The CWE definition for the vulnerability is CWE-35. The product uses external input to construct a pathname that should be within a restricted directory, but it does not properly neutralize '.../...//' (doubled triple dot slash) sequences that can resolve to a location that is outside of that directory. As an impact it is known to affect confidentiality, integrity, and availability. CVE summarizes:
ComfyUI-Impact-Pack is vulnerable to Path Traversal. The issue stems from missing validation of the `image.filename` field in a POST request sent to the `/upload/temp` endpoint added by the extension to the server. This results in writing arbitrary files to the file system which may, under some conditions, result in remote code execution (RCE).
The advisory is shared for download at github.com. This vulnerability was named CVE-2024-21575 since 12/22/2023. The exploitation appears to be easy. The attack can be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is required for a successful exploitation. There are known technical details, but no exploit is available. The MITRE ATT&CK project declares the attack technique as T1006.
Upgrading to version 7.6.2 eliminates this vulnerability.
