CVSS Meta Temp Score
CVSS is a standardized scoring system to determine possibilities of attacks. The Temp Score considers temporal factors like disclosure, exploit and countermeasures. The unique Meta Score calculates the average score of different sources to provide a normalized scoring system.
Current Exploit Price (≈)
Our analysts are monitoring exploit markets and are in contact with vulnerability brokers. The range indicates the observed or calculated exploit price to be seen on exploit markets. A good indicator to understand the monetary effort required for and the popularity of an attack.
CTI Interest Score
Our Cyber Threat Intelligence team is monitoring different web sites, mailing lists, exploit markets and social media networks. The CTI Interest Score identifies the interest of attackers and the security community for this specific vulnerability in real-time. A high score indicates an elevated risk to be targeted for this vulnerability.

Summaryinfo

A vulnerability marked as problematic has been reported in beego up to 2.3.3. Affected by this issue is some unknown functionality. Performing a manipulation results in weak hash. This vulnerability is identified as CVE-2024-55885. The attack can be initiated remotely. There is not any exploit available. It is suggested to upgrade the affected component.

Detailsinfo

A vulnerability, which was classified as problematic, was found in beego up to 2.3.3. This affects an unknown code. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a weak hash vulnerability. CWE is classifying the issue as CWE-328. The product uses an algorithm that produces a digest (output value) that does not meet security expectations for a hash function that allows an adversary to reasonably determine the original input (preimage attack), find another input that can produce the same hash (2nd preimage attack), or find multiple inputs that evaluate to the same hash (birthday attack). This is going to have an impact on integrity. The summary by CVE is:

beego is an open-source web framework for the Go programming language. Versions of beego prior to 2.3.4 use MD5 as a hashing algorithm. MD5 is no longer considered secure against well-funded opponents due to its vulnerability to collision attacks. Version 2.3.4 replaces MD5 with SHA256.

The advisory is shared at github.com. This vulnerability is uniquely identified as CVE-2024-55885 since 12/12/2024. The exploitability is told to be easy. It is possible to initiate the attack remotely. No form of authentication is needed for exploitation. Neither technical details nor an exploit are publicly available. MITRE ATT&CK project uses the attack technique T1600.001 for this issue.

Upgrading to version 2.3.4 eliminates this vulnerability. Applying the patch e7fa4835f71f47ab1d13afd638cebf661800d5a4 is able to eliminate this problem. The bugfix is ready for download at github.com. The best possible mitigation is suggested to be upgrading to the latest version.
