A vulnerability was found in PGP Corporate Desktop up to 9.5.1 and classified as critical. This issue affects an unknown functionality of the component RPC Request Handler. PGP Desktop before 9.5.1 does not validate data objects received over the (1) \pipe\pgpserv named pipe for PGPServ.exe or the (2) \pipe\pgpsdkserv named pipe for PGPsdkServ.exe, which allows remote authenticated users to gain privileges by sending a data object representing an absolute pointer, which causes code execution at the corresponding address.
The bug was discovered 01/25/2007. The weakness was published 01/26/2007 by Peter Winter-Smith with NGSSoftware (Website). The advisory is shared at ngssoftware.com. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2007-0603 since 01/30/2007. The attack can only be done within the local network. The successful exploitation needs a simple authentication.
