Details
A vulnerability was found in InvoicePlane up to 1.6.1. It has been classified as problematic. This affects the function download of the file invoices.php. The manipulation of the argument invoice with an unknown input leads to a path traversal vulnerability. CWE is classifying the issue as CWE-22. The product uses external input to construct a pathname that is intended to identify a file or directory that is located underneath a restricted parent directory, but the product does not properly neutralize special elements within the pathname that can cause the pathname to resolve to a location that is outside of the restricted directory. This is going to have an impact on confidentiality.
This vulnerability is uniquely identified as CVE-2024-12362. The exploitability is told to be easy. It is possible to initiate the attack remotely. Technical details and a public exploit are known. MITRE ATT&CK project uses the attack technique T1006 for this issue.
