Multiple cross-site scripting (XSS) vulnerabilities in the Contact Details functionality in Yahoo! Messenger 8.1.0.209 and earlier allow user-assisted remote attackers to inject arbitrary web script or HTML via a javascript: URI in the SRC attribute of an IMG element to the (1) First Name, (2) Last Name, and (3) Nickname fields. NOTE: some of these details are obtained from third party information.
The bug was discovered 01/26/2007. The weakness was shared 01/30/2007 by Hai Nam Luke as not defined posting (Bugtraq). The advisory is shared at archives.neohapsis.com. This vulnerability is uniquely identified as CVE-2007-0768 since 02/05/2007. It is possible to initiate the attack remotely. No form of authentication is needed for exploitation. It demands that the victim is doing some kind of user interaction. Neither technical details nor an exploit are publicly available. MITRE ATT&CK project uses the attack technique T1059.007 for this issue.
