A vulnerability was found in Woltlab Burning Board up to 4.0.0 (Content Management System) and classified as problematic. This issue affects an unknown function of the file jgs_galerie_slideshow.php. The manipulation of the argument katid with an unknown input leads to a cross site scripting vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-80. The product receives input from an upstream component, but it does not neutralize or incorrectly neutralizes special characters such as "<", ">", and "&" that could be interpreted as web-scripting elements when they are sent to a downstream component that processes web pages. Multiple cross-site scripting (XSS) vulnerabilities in the JGS-XA JGS-Gallery Addon 4.0.0 and earlier for Woltlab Burning Board (wBB) 2.x allow remote attackers to inject arbitrary web script or HTML via the (1) userid parameter in (a) jgs_galerie_slideshow.php and (b) jgs_galerie_scroll.php, and the (2) katid parameter in (c) jgs_galerie_slideshow.php.
The weakness was released 02/28/2006 by Mustafa Can Bjorn (Website). It is possible to read the advisory at securityfocus.com. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2006-0927 since 02/28/2006. The exploitation is known to be difficult. The attack may be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is needed for a successful exploitation. It demands that the victim is doing some kind of user interaction. Technical details as well as a public exploit are known. The attack technique deployed by this issue is T1059.007 according to MITRE ATT&CK.
