A vulnerability classified as problematic has been found in PEAR Pear Archive Tar up to 1.1. This affects the function pear::archive_tar. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a path traversal vulnerability. CWE is classifying the issue as CWE-22. The product uses external input to construct a pathname that is intended to identify a file or directory that is located underneath a restricted parent directory, but the product does not properly neutralize special elements within the pathname that can cause the pathname to resolve to a location that is outside of the restricted directory. Directory traversal vulnerability in PEAR::Archive_Tar 1.2, and other versions before 1.3.2, allows remote attackers to create and overwrite arbitrary files via certain crafted pathnames in a TAR archive.
