Kentico CMS in version 7 is vulnerable to a Reflected XSS attacks through manipulation of a specific GET request parameter sent to /CMSMessages/AccessDenied.aspx endpoint. Notably, support for this version of Kentico ended in 2016. Version 8 was tested as well and does not contain this vulnerability.
The weakness was shared by Michał Majchrowicz. It is possible to read the advisory at cert.pl. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2024-12907 since 12/23/2024. The exploitation is known to be easy. The attack may be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is needed for a successful exploitation. It demands that the victim is doing some kind of user interaction. Technical details of the vulnerability are known, but there is no available exploit. The attack technique deployed by this issue is T1059.007 according to MITRE ATT&CK.
