A vulnerability was found in Jelsoft vBulletin 3.0.12/3.5.3 (Forum Software). It has been classified as problematic. Affected is the function "editpassword" of the file profile.php. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a cross site scripting vulnerability. CWE is classifying the issue as CWE-80. The product receives input from an upstream component, but it does not neutralize or incorrectly neutralizes special characters such as "<", ">", and "&" that could be interpreted as web-scripting elements when they are sent to a downstream component that processes web pages. Cross-site scripting (XSS) vulnerability in vBulletin 3.0.12 and 3.5.3 allows remote attackers to inject arbitrary web script or HTML via the email field, which is injected in profile.php but not sanitized in sendmsg.php.
