A vulnerability was found in pam_ssh 1.91. It has been declared as problematic. Affected by this vulnerability is the function allow_blank_password of the component Password Encryption Handler. The auth_via_key function in pam_ssh.c in pam_ssh before 1.92, when the allow_blank_passphrase option is disabled, allows remote attackers to bypass authentication restrictions and use private encryption keys requiring a blank passphrase by entering a non-blank passphrase.
The bug was discovered 02/06/2007. The weakness was published 02/08/2007 by Rob Henderson (Website). The advisory is shared at sourceforge.net.
