A vulnerability has been found in Pixelpost 1.4.3/1.5 Beta1 and classified as problematic. This vulnerability affects the function phpinfo of the file includes/phpinfo.php. Pixelpost 1.5 beta 1 and earlier allows remote attackers to obtain configuration information via a direct request to includes/phpinfo.php, which calls the phpinfo function. NOTE: the vendor has disputed some issues from the original disclosure, but due to the vagueness of the dispute, it is not clear whether the vendor is disputing this particular issue.
The bug was discovered 03/05/2006. The weakness was disclosed 03/09/2006 by Paisterist with AIST (Website). The advisory is shared for download at xforce.iss.net. This vulnerability was named CVE-2006-1105 since 03/09/2006. The exploitation appears to be easy. The attack can be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is required for a successful exploitation. There are known technical details, but no exploit is available. The MITRE ATT&CK project declares the attack technique as T1592.
It is declared as proof-of-concept. The vulnerability was handled as a non-public zero-day exploit for at least 4 days. During that time the estimated underground price was around $0-$5k. The real existence of this vulnerability is still doubted at the moment. By approaching the search of inurl:includes/phpinfo.php it is possible to find vulnerable targets with Google Hacking. The vulnerability scanner Nessus provides a plugin with the ID 21049 (Pixelpost < 1.5 RC1 showimage Parameter SQL Injection), which helps to determine the existence of the flaw in a target environment.
