Details
A vulnerability was found in PeerCast 0.1211/0.1212/0.1215 and classified as critical. Affected by this issue is the function nextcgiarg of the file servmgr.cpp. The manipulation of the argument (1) with an unknown input leads to a memory corruption vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-119. The product performs operations on a memory buffer, but it can read from or write to a memory location that is outside of the intended boundary of the buffer. Impacted is confidentiality, integrity, and availability. CVE summarizes:
Multiple stack-based buffer overflows in the procConnectArgs function in servmgr.cpp in PeerCast before 0.1217 allow remote attackers to execute arbitrary code via an HTTP GET request with a long (1) parameter name or (2) value in a URL, which triggers the overflow in the nextCGIarg function in servhs.cpp.
The bug was discovered 03/09/2006. The weakness was presented 03/09/2006 by Leon Juranic (Website). The advisory is available at archives.neohapsis.com.
