A vulnerability was found in Woltlab Burning Board 2.3.4 (Content Management System) and classified as problematic. This issue affects an unknown function of the file misc.php. The manipulation of the argument percent with an unknown input leads to a cross site scripting vulnerability (Reflected). Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-80. Cross-site scripting (XSS) vulnerability in misc.php in Woltlab Burning Board (wBB) 2.3.4 allows remote attackers to inject arbitrary web script or HTML via the percent parameter. NOTE: this issue has been disputed in a followup post, although the original disclosure might be related to reflected XSS.

The weakness was presented 03/13/2006 with Shell (Website). It is possible to read the advisory at securityfocus.com. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2006-1215 since 03/14/2006. The attack may be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is needed for a successful exploitation. It demands that the victim is doing some kind of user interaction. Technical details of the vulnerability are known, but there is no available exploit. The attack technique deployed by this issue is T1059.007 according to MITRE ATT&CK.

The real existence of this vulnerability is still doubted at the moment. By approaching the search of inurl:misc.php it is possible to find vulnerable targets with Google Hacking.
