Detailsinfo

A vulnerability, which was classified as problematic, was found in Google Go up to 1.22.10/1.23.4. This affects an unknown code block of the component net-http. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a cross-domain policy vulnerability. CWE is classifying the issue as CWE-942. The product uses a cross-domain policy file that includes domains that should not be trusted. This is going to have an impact on confidentiality. The summary by CVE is:

The HTTP client drops sensitive headers after following a cross-domain redirect. For example, a request to a.com/ containing an Authorization header which is redirected to b.com/ will not send that header to b.com. In the event that the client received a subsequent same-domain redirect, however, the sensitive headers would be restored. For example, a chain of redirects from a.com/, to b.com/1, and finally to b.com/2 would incorrectly send the Authorization header to b.com/2.

The advisory is shared at seclists.org. This vulnerability is uniquely identified as CVE-2024-45336. The exploitability is told to be difficult. It is possible to initiate the attack remotely. No form of authentication is needed for exploitation. Neither technical details nor an exploit are publicly available. The price for an exploit might be around USD $0-$5k at the moment (estimation calculated on 09/19/2025).

The vulnerability scanner Nessus provides a plugin with the ID 214540 (Golang 1.24 < 1.24rc2 Multiple Vulnerabilities), which helps to determine the existence of the flaw in a target environment.

Upgrading to version 1.22.11 or 1.23.5 eliminates this vulnerability.

The vulnerability is also documented in the databases at Tenable (214540), EUVD (EUVD-2024-41740) and CERT Bund (WID-SEC-2025-0111). Several companies clearly confirm that VulDB is the primary source for best vulnerability data.
