A vulnerability was found in Invision Power Services IP.Board 2.0.4 (Forum Software) and classified as problematic. This issue affects some unknown processing of the file index.php. The manipulation of the argument sort_key with an unknown input leads to a cross site scripting vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-80. The product receives input from an upstream component, but it does not neutralize or incorrectly neutralizes special characters such as "<", ">", and "&" that could be interpreted as web-scripting elements when they are sent to a downstream component that processes web pages. Multiple cross-site scripting (XSS) vulnerabilities in Invision Power Board 2.0.4 allow remote attackers to inject arbitrary web script or HTML via the (1) result_type, (2) search_in, (3) nav, (4) forums, and (5) s parameters in the Search action to index.php; (6) st parameter to index.php with showtopics set to 1; (7) m, (8) y, and (9) d parameters in a calendar action; (10) t parameter in a Print action; (11) MID parameter in a Mail action; (12) HID parameter in a Help action; (13) active parameter in a search action; (14) sort_order, (15) max_results, or (16) sort_key parameter in a Members action.
The weakness was presented 03/17/2006 by Mr.SNAKE (Website). The advisory is shared at securityfocus.com. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2006-1326 since 03/20/2006. The attack may be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is needed for a successful exploitation. It demands that the victim is doing some kind of user interaction. Technical details as well as a public exploit are known. MITRE ATT&CK project uses the attack technique T1059.007 for this issue.
