Details
A vulnerability classified as problematic has been found in Cutephp CuteNews 1.4.1 (Content Management System). Affected is an unknown code block. The manipulation of the argument archive with an unknown input leads to a path traversal vulnerability. CWE is classifying the issue as CWE-22. The product uses external input to construct a pathname that is intended to identify a file or directory that is located underneath a restricted parent directory, but the product does not properly neutralize special elements within the pathname that can cause the pathname to resolve to a location that is outside of the restricted directory. This is going to have an impact on integrity. CVE summarizes:
Directory traversal vulnerability in inc/functions.inc.php in CuteNews 1.4.1 and possibly other versions, when register_globals is enabled, allows remote attackers to include arbitrary files via a .. (dot dot) sequence and trailing NULL (%00) byte in the archive parameter in an HTTP POST or COOKIE request, which bypasses a sanity check that is only applied to a GET request.
