A vulnerability was found in phpPgAds 2.0.4/2.0.4 Pr2/2.0.5/2.0.7 and classified as problematic. This issue affects an unknown functionality of the component Login Form. The product receives input from an upstream component, but it does not neutralize or incorrectly neutralizes special characters such as "<", ">", and "&" that could be interpreted as web-scripting elements when they are sent to a downstream component that processes web pages. Multiple cross-site scripting (XSS) vulnerabilities in (a) phpAdsNew and (b) phpPgAds before 2.0.8 allow remote attackers to inject arbitrary web script or HTML via the (1) certain parameters to the banner delivery module, which is not properly handled in the administrator interface, or (2) certain parameters to the login form.
The weakness was published 03/27/2006 by Matteo Beccati (Website). The advisory is shared at securityfocus.com. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2006-1397 since 03/28/2006. The attack may be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is needed for a successful exploitation. It demands that the victim is doing some kind of user interaction. Neither technical details nor an exploit are publicly available. MITRE ATT&CK project uses the attack technique T1059.007 for this issue.
It is declared as proof-of-concept.
Upgrading to version 2.0.8 eliminates this vulnerability.
