Details
A vulnerability classified as problematic was found in PX-lab BoomBox Theme Extensions up to 1.8.0 on WordPress. This vulnerability affects the function boombox_listing of the component Shortcode Handler. The manipulation of the argument type with an unknown input leads to a filename control vulnerability. The CWE definition for the vulnerability is CWE-98. The PHP application receives input from an upstream component, but it does not restrict or incorrectly restricts the input before its usage in "require," "include," or similar functions. As an impact it is known to affect confidentiality, integrity, and availability. CVE summarizes:
The BoomBox Theme Extensions plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to Local File Inclusion in all versions up to, and including, 1.8.0 via the 'boombox_listing' shortcode 'type' attribute. This makes it possible for authenticated attackers, with contributor-level and above permissions, to include and execute arbitrary files on the server, allowing the execution of any PHP code in those files. This can be used to bypass access controls, obtain sensitive data, or achieve code execution in cases where php file type can be uploaded and included.
