Detailsinfo

A vulnerability classified as critical has been found in Google Go 1.24rc2. Affected is an unknown functionality of the component cmd-go. The manipulation of the argument executable_path/loader_path/rpath with an unknown input leads to a command injection vulnerability. CWE is classifying the issue as CWE-77. The product constructs all or part of a command using externally-influenced input from an upstream component, but it does not neutralize or incorrectly neutralizes special elements that could modify the intended command when it is sent to a downstream component. This is going to have an impact on confidentiality, integrity, and availability. CVE summarizes:

On Darwin, building a Go module which contains CGO can trigger arbitrary code execution when using the Apple version of ld, due to usage of the @executable_path, @loader_path, or @rpath special values in a "#cgo LDFLAGS" directive. This issue only affected go1.24rc2.

The advisory is shared for download at github.com. This vulnerability is traded as CVE-2025-22867 since 01/08/2025. The exploitability is told to be easy. It is possible to launch the attack remotely. The exploitation doesn't require any form of authentication. There are known technical details, but no exploit is available.
