A vulnerability was found in MAXdev MD-Pro 1.0.72/1.0.73/1.0.75. It has been rated as critical. This issue affects the function display of the file pnuserapi.php. The manipulation of the argument topicid with an unknown input leads to a sql injection vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-89. The product constructs all or part of an SQL command using externally-influenced input from an upstream component, but it does not neutralize or incorrectly neutralizes special elements that could modify the intended SQL command when it is sent to a downstream component. Impacted is confidentiality, and integrity. The summary by CVE is:
SQL injection vulnerability in the display function in the Topics module for MAXdev MDPro (MD-Pro) 1.0.73 and 1.0.72, and possibly other versions before 1.076, allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary SQL commands via the topicid parameter in a display action, which is not properly handled in PNuserapi.PHP.
The bug was discovered 04/06/2006. The weakness was published 04/10/2006 (Website). It is possible to read the advisory at xforce.iss.net. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2006-1676 since 04/10/2006. The exploitation is known to be easy. The attack may be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is needed for a successful exploitation. Technical details of the vulnerability are known, but there is no available exploit. The attack technique deployed by this issue is T1505 according to MITRE ATT&CK.
It is declared as proof-of-concept. The vulnerability was handled as a non-public zero-day exploit for at least 4 days. During that time the estimated underground price was around $0-$5k. By approaching the search of inurl:pnuserapi.php it is possible to find vulnerable targets with Google Hacking.
Upgrading to version 1.0.73 eliminates this vulnerability.
