Details
A vulnerability was found in Cordaware bestinformed Web up to 6.2.2.4. It has been classified as problematic. Affected is some unknown processing. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a code injection vulnerability. CWE is classifying the issue as CWE-94. The product constructs all or part of a code segment using externally-influenced input from an upstream component, but it does not neutralize or incorrectly neutralizes special elements that could modify the syntax or behavior of the intended code segment. This is going to have an impact on confidentiality, integrity, and availability. CVE summarizes:
An authenticated user in the "bestinformed Web" application can execute commands on the underlying server running the application. (Remote Code Execution) For this, the user must be able to create "ScriptVars" with the type „script" and preview them by, for example, creating a new "Info". By default, admin users have those permissions, but with the granular permission system, those permissions may be assigned to other users. An attacker is able to execute commands on the server running the "bestinformed Web" application if an account with the correct permissions was compromised before.
The weakness was released by David Miller. The advisory is available at cordaware.com. This vulnerability is traded as CVE-2025-0422 since 01/13/2025. The exploitability is told to be easy.
