Details
A vulnerability classified as critical has been found in FarsiNews 2.1/2.1 Beta2/2.5/2.5.3. Affected is some unknown processing of the file index.php of the component Error Message Handler. The manipulation of the argument archive with an unknown input leads to a path traversal vulnerability. CWE is classifying the issue as CWE-22. The product uses external input to construct a pathname that is intended to identify a file or directory that is located underneath a restricted parent directory, but the product does not properly neutralize special elements within the pathname that can cause the pathname to resolve to a location that is outside of the restricted directory. This is going to have an impact on confidentiality, and integrity. CVE summarizes:
Directory traversal vulnerability in FarsiNews 2.5.3 Pro and earlier allows remote attackers to obtain the installation path via ".." sequences in the archive parameter to index.php, which leaks the full pathname in an error message.
