Details
A vulnerability, which was classified as problematic, has been found in Linux Kernel up to 5.4.203/5.10.128/5.15.52/5.18.9. This issue affects the function of_get_devfreq_events/of_get_child_by_name. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a reference count vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-911. The product uses a reference count to manage a resource, but it does not update or incorrectly updates the reference count. Impacted is availability. The summary by CVE is:
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: PM / devfreq: exynos-ppmu: Fix refcount leak in of_get_devfreq_events of_get_child_by_name() returns a node pointer with refcount incremented, we should use of_node_put() on it when done. This function only calls of_node_put() in normal path, missing it in error paths. Add missing of_node_put() to avoid refcount leak.
The advisory is shared at git.kernel.org. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2022-49668 since 02/26/2025. Technical details are known, but no exploit is available.
The vulnerability scanner Nessus provides a plugin with the ID 237099 (SUSE SLES12 Security Update : kernel (SUSE-SU-2025:01600-1)), which helps to determine the existence of the flaw in a target environment.
Upgrading to version 5.4.204, 5.10.129, 5.15.53 or 5.18.10 eliminates this vulnerability.
