Details
A vulnerability has been found in Linux Kernel up to 5.17.2 and classified as critical. Affected by this vulnerability is an unknown code block of the component hci_sync. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a use after free vulnerability. The CWE definition for the vulnerability is CWE-416. Referencing memory after it has been freed can cause a program to crash, use unexpected values, or execute code. As an impact it is known to affect confidentiality, integrity, and availability. The summary by CVE is:
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: Bluetooth: hci_sync: Fix queuing commands when HCI_UNREGISTER is set hci_cmd_sync_queue shall return an error if HCI_UNREGISTER flag has been set as that means hci_unregister_dev has been called so it will likely cause a uaf after the timeout as the hdev will be freed.
