Details
A vulnerability classified as problematic has been found in Linux Kernel up to 6.13.2/6.14-rc1. Affected is some unknown functionality of the component ast. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a information exposure vulnerability. CWE is classifying the issue as CWE-209. The product generates an error message that includes sensitive information about its environment, users, or associated data. This is going to have an impact on confidentiality. CVE summarizes:
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: drm/ast: astdp: Fix timeout for enabling video signal The ASTDP transmitter sometimes takes up to 1 second for enabling the video signal, while the timeout is only 200 msec. This results in a kernel error message. Increase the timeout to 1 second. An example of the error message is shown below. Enabling the video signal still works even with the error message. The problem has always been present, but only recent versions of the ast driver warn about missing the timeout.
The advisory is shared for download at git.kernel.org. This vulnerability is traded as CVE-2025-21747 since 12/29/2024. The exploitability is told to be difficult. There are neither technical details nor an exploit publicly available. The MITRE ATT&CK project declares the attack technique as T1592.
