CVSS Meta Temp Score
CVSS is a standardized scoring system to determine possibilities of attacks. The Temp Score considers temporal factors like disclosure, exploit and countermeasures. The unique Meta Score calculates the average score of different sources to provide a normalized scoring system.
Current Exploit Price (≈)
Our analysts are monitoring exploit markets and are in contact with vulnerability brokers. The range indicates the observed or calculated exploit price to be seen on exploit markets. A good indicator to understand the monetary effort required for and the popularity of an attack.
CTI Interest Score
Our Cyber Threat Intelligence team is monitoring different web sites, mailing lists, exploit markets and social media networks. The CTI Interest Score identifies the interest of attackers and the security community for this specific vulnerability in real-time. A high score indicates an elevated risk to be targeted for this vulnerability.

Detailsinfo

A vulnerability classified as critical has been found in Linux Kernel up to 6.1.128/6.6.75/6.12.12/6.13.1. Affected is the function am65_cpsw_nuss_remove_tx_chns of the component am65-cpsw. The manipulation of the argument error with an unknown input leads to a null pointer dereference vulnerability. CWE is classifying the issue as CWE-476. A NULL pointer dereference occurs when the application dereferences a pointer that it expects to be valid, but is NULL, typically causing a crash or exit. This is going to have an impact on availability. CVE summarizes:

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: net: ethernet: ti: am65-cpsw: fix freeing IRQ in am65_cpsw_nuss_remove_tx_chns() When getting the IRQ we use k3_udma_glue_tx_get_irq() which returns negative error value on error. So not NULL check is not sufficient to deteremine if IRQ is valid. Check that IRQ is greater then zero to ensure it is valid. There is no issue at probe time but at runtime user can invoke .set_channels which results in the following call chain. am65_cpsw_set_channels() am65_cpsw_nuss_update_tx_rx_chns() am65_cpsw_nuss_remove_tx_chns() am65_cpsw_nuss_init_tx_chns() At this point if am65_cpsw_nuss_init_tx_chns() fails due to k3_udma_glue_tx_get_irq() then tx_chn->irq will be set to a negative value. Then, at subsequent .set_channels with higher channel count we will attempt to free an invalid IRQ in am65_cpsw_nuss_remove_tx_chns() leading to a kernel warning. The issue is present in the original commit that introduced this driver, although there, am65_cpsw_nuss_update_tx_rx_chns() existed as am65_cpsw_nuss_update_tx_chns().

The advisory is available at git.kernel.org. This vulnerability is traded as CVE-2025-21799 since 12/29/2024. Technical details are known, but there is no available exploit.

The vulnerability scanner Nessus provides a plugin with the ID 232678 (SUSE SLES15 / openSUSE 15 Security Update : kernel (SUSE-SU-2025:0847-1)), which helps to determine the existence of the flaw in a target environment.

Upgrading to version 6.1.129, 6.6.76, 6.12.13, 6.13.2 or 6.14-rc1 eliminates this vulnerability. Applying the patch aea5cca681d268f794fa2385f9ec26a5cce025cd/88fd5db8c0073bd91d18391feb5741aeb0a2b475/8448c87b3af68bebca21e3136913f7f77e363515/8aae91ae1c65782a169ec070e023d4d269e5d6e6/4395a44acb15850e492dd1de9ec4b6479d96bc80 is able to eliminate this problem. The bugfix is ready for download at git.kernel.org. The best possible mitigation is suggested to be upgrading to the latest version.

The vulnerability is also documented in the databases at Tenable (232678), EUVD (EUVD-2025-5990) and CERT Bund (WID-SEC-2025-0461). If you want to get best quality of vulnerability data, you may have to visit VulDB.
