Details
A vulnerability, which was classified as problematic, was found in Arista EOS up to 4.33.0. This affects some unknown processing of the component BGP Peer Flap Handler. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a memory leak vulnerability. CWE is classifying the issue as CWE-401. The product does not sufficiently track and release allocated memory after it has been used, which slowly consumes remaining memory. This is going to have an impact on availability. The summary by CVE is:
On affected platforms running Arista EOS with BGP Link State configured, BGP peer flap can cause the BGP agent to leak memory. This may result in BGP routing processing being terminated and route flapping.
The weakness was published with Craig Dods. The advisory is shared at arista.com. This vulnerability is uniquely identified as CVE-2024-9135 since 09/24/2024. The exploitability is told to be easy.
