Details
A vulnerability, which was classified as critical, has been found in Jelsoft vBulletin up to 3.0.12 (Forum Software). This issue affects an unknown functionality of the file calendar.php. The manipulation of the argument eventid with an unknown input leads to a sql injection vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-89. The product constructs all or part of an SQL command using externally-influenced input from an upstream component, but it does not neutralize or incorrectly neutralizes special elements that could modify the intended SQL command when it is sent to a downstream component. Impacted is confidentiality, integrity, and availability. The summary by CVE is:
SQL injection vulnerability in calendar.php in vBulletin 3.0.x allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary SQL commands via the eventid parameter. NOTE: the affected version has been disputed by the vendor. It appears that this is the same issue as CVE-2004-0036, which was fixed in 2.3.4.
The weakness was released 04/25/2006 as not defined posting (Bugtraq). It is possible to read the advisory at securityfocus.com. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2006-2018 since 04/25/2006. The exploitation is known to be easy. The attack may be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is needed for a successful exploitation. Technical details of the vulnerability are known, but there is no available exploit. The attack technique deployed by this issue is T1505 according to MITRE ATT&CK.
The real existence of this vulnerability is still doubted at the moment. By approaching the search of inurl:calendar.php it is possible to find vulnerable targets with Google Hacking.
