A vulnerability has been found in PHPSurveyor up to 0.995 (Survey Software) and classified as critical. This vulnerability affects some unknown processing of the file save.php. The manipulation of the argument surveyid with an unknown input leads to a sql injection vulnerability. The CWE definition for the vulnerability is CWE-89. The product constructs all or part of an SQL command using externally-influenced input from an upstream component, but it does not neutralize or incorrectly neutralizes special elements that could modify the intended SQL command when it is sent to a downstream component. As an impact it is known to affect confidentiality, integrity, and availability. CVE summarizes:

SQL injection vulnerability in save.php in PHPSurveyor 0.995 and earlier allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary SQL commands via the surveyid cookie. NOTE: this issue could be leveraged to execute arbitrary PHP code, as demonstrated by inserting directory traversal sequences into the database, which are then processed by the thissurvey[ language ] variable.

The weakness was presented 04/20/2006 by retrogod (Website). The advisory is available at secunia.com. This vulnerability was named CVE-2006-2065 since 04/26/2006. The exploitation appears to be easy. The attack can be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is required for a successful exploitation. Technical details and also a public exploit are known.
