A vulnerability was found in Francisco Burzi PHP-Nuke (Content Management System) (version unknown). It has been rated as critical. Affected by this issue is an unknown function of the file addressbook.php of the component Addressbook. The manipulation of the argument module_name with an unknown input leads to a path traversal vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-22. The product uses external input to construct a pathname that is intended to identify a file or directory that is located underneath a restricted parent directory, but the product does not properly neutralize special elements within the pathname that can cause the pathname to resolve to a location that is outside of the restricted directory. Directory traversal vulnerability in addressbook.php in the Addressbook 1.2 module for PHP-Nuke allows remote attackers to include and execute arbitrary local files via a .. (dot dot) in the module_name parameter, as demonstrated by injecting PHP sequences into an Apache HTTP Server log file.
The weakness was released 04/02/2007 with bd0rk (Website). The advisory is shared for download at exploit-db.com. This vulnerability is handled as CVE-2007-1720 since 03/27/2007. The attack may be launched remotely. No form of authentication is required for exploitation. Technical details as well as a public exploit are known. The MITRE ATT&CK project declares the attack technique as T1006.
