A vulnerability was found in X.org X11 Server up to 21.1.16. It has been classified as problematic. Affected is the function AttachDevice of the file dix/devices.c of the component Data Structure Handler. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a improper resource locking vulnerability. In X.Org X server 20.11 through 21.1.16, when a client application uses easystroke for mouse gestures, the main thread modifies various data structures used by the input thread without acquiring a lock, aka a race condition. In particular, AttachDevice in dix/devices.c does not acquire an input lock.
The advisory is shared for download at bugs.debian.org. This vulnerability is traded as CVE-2022-49737 since 03/16/2025. The exploitability is told to be difficult.
