A vulnerability was found in libtiff 3.8.1 (Image Processing Software). It has been rated as problematic. This issue affects the function tifftorgb. The TIFFToRGB function in libtiff before 3.8.1 allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service (crash) via a crafted TIFF image with Yr/Yg/Yb values that exceed the YCR/YCG/YCB values, which triggers an out-of-bounds read.

The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2006-2120 since 05/01/2006. The exploitation is known to be easy. Attacking locally is a requirement.
