CVSS Meta Temp Score
CVSS is a standardized scoring system to determine possibilities of attacks. The Temp Score considers temporal factors like disclosure, exploit and countermeasures. The unique Meta Score calculates the average score of different sources to provide a normalized scoring system.
Current Exploit Price (≈)
Our analysts are monitoring exploit markets and are in contact with vulnerability brokers. The range indicates the observed or calculated exploit price to be seen on exploit markets. A good indicator to understand the monetary effort required for and the popularity of an attack.
CTI Interest Score
Our Cyber Threat Intelligence team is monitoring different web sites, mailing lists, exploit markets and social media networks. The CTI Interest Score identifies the interest of attackers and the security community for this specific vulnerability in real-time. A high score indicates an elevated risk to be targeted for this vulnerability.

Detailsinfo

A vulnerability has been found in mintplex-labs anything-llm up to 1.2.1 and classified as problematic. Affected by this vulnerability is the function normalizePath. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a path traversal vulnerability. The CWE definition for the vulnerability is CWE-29. The product uses external input to construct a pathname that should be within a restricted directory, but it does not properly neutralize '\..\filename' (leading backslash dot dot) sequences that can resolve to a location that is outside of that directory. As an impact it is known to affect confidentiality, integrity, and availability. The summary by CVE is:

A vulnerability in the normalizePath function in mintplex-labs/anything-llm version git 296f041 allows for path traversal, leading to arbitrary file read and write in the storage directory. This can result in privilege escalation from manager to admin. The issue is fixed in version 1.2.2.

The advisory is shared at huntr.com. This vulnerability is known as CVE-2024-8248 since 08/28/2024. The exploitation appears to be easy. The attack can be launched remotely.
