A vulnerability, which was classified as critical, has been found in ZenPhoto 0.9/1.0 Beta/1.0.1 Beta (Content Management System). This issue affects some unknown functionality of the file i.php. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a cross site scripting vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-80. The product receives input from an upstream component, but it does not neutralize or incorrectly neutralizes special characters such as "<", ">", and "&" that could be interpreted as web-scripting elements when they are sent to a downstream component that processes web pages. Multiple cross-site scripting (XSS) vulnerabilities in zenphoto 1.0.1 beta and earlier allow remote attackers to inject arbitrary web script or HTML via the (1) a parameter in i.php, and the (2) album and (3) image parameters in index.php.
The weakness was presented 05/04/2006 (Website). The advisory is shared at zone14.free.fr. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2006-2187 since 05/04/2006. The attack may be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is needed for a successful exploitation. It demands that the victim is doing some kind of user interaction. Technical details as well as a public exploit are known. MITRE ATT&CK project uses the attack technique T1059.007 for this issue.
The exploit is available at securityfocus.com. It is declared as proof-of-concept. By approaching the search of inurl:i.php it is possible to find vulnerable targets with Google Hacking.
