A vulnerability was found in GitLab Enterprise Edition up to 17.8.5/17.9.2/17.10.0. It has been declared as problematic. An issue was discovered in GitLab EE affecting all versions starting from 14.9 before 17.8.6, all versions starting from 17.9 before 17.8.3, all versions starting from 17.10 before 17.10.1. An input validation issue in the Harbor registry integration could have allowed a maintainer to add malicious code to the CLI commands shown in the UI.
The weakness was released by joaxcar as 498557. The advisory is shared for download at gitlab.com. This vulnerability was named CVE-2024-9773 since 10/09/2024. The exploitation appears to be difficult. The attack needs to be approached locally. The exploitation needs additional levels of successful authentication. Upgrading to version 17.8.6, 17.9.3 or 17.10.1 eliminates this vulnerability.
