A vulnerability was found in Streamsoft Prestiż up to 18.2.376 and classified as problematic. This issue affects some unknown processing. Use of a custom password encoding algorithm in Streamsoft Prestiż software allows straightforward decoding of passwords using their encoded forms, which are stored in the application's database. One has to know the encoding algorithm, but it can be deduced by observing how password are transformed. This issue was fixed in 18.2.377 version of the software.
The weakness was disclosed by Kamil Dąbkowski. The advisory is shared at cert.pl. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2024-7407 since 08/02/2024. The exploitation is known to be difficult. The attack may be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is needed for a successful exploitation. Neither technical details nor an exploit are publicly available. MITRE ATT&CK project uses the attack technique T1552 for this issue.
Upgrading to version 18.2.377 eliminates this vulnerability.
