A vulnerability was found in McAfee VirusScan 8.0i (Anti-Malware Software). It has been declared as critical. This vulnerability affects an unknown code block of the component Unicode Filename Handler. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a memory corruption vulnerability. Buffer overflow in the On-Access Scanner in McAfee VirusScan Enterprise before 8.0i Patch 12 allows user-assisted remote attackers to execute arbitrary code via a long filename containing multi-byte (Unicode) characters.

The bug was discovered 04/18/2007. The weakness was disclosed 04/18/2007 by iDefense Labs with iDefense (Website). The advisory is available at labs.idefense.com. This vulnerability was named CVE-2007-2152 since 04/19/2007. The attack can be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is required for a successful exploitation. The technical details are unknown and an exploit is not available.
