Details
A vulnerability has been found in MobSF Mobile-Security-Framework-MobSF up to 4.3.1 and classified as problematic. This vulnerability affects the function valid_host. Mobile Security Framework (MobSF) is a pen-testing, malware analysis and security assessment framework capable of performing static and dynamic analysis. The mitigation for CVE-2024-29190 in valid_host() uses socket.gethostbyname(), which is vulnerable to SSRF abuse using DNS rebinding technique. This vulnerability is fixed in 4.3.2.
The advisory is available at github.com. This vulnerability was named CVE-2025-31116 since 03/26/2025. The exploitation appears to be difficult. The attack can be initiated remotely. The exploitation needs additional levels of successful authentication. Technical details are known, but there is no available exploit.
Upgrading to version 4.3.2 eliminates this vulnerability. Applying the patch 4b8bab5a9858c69fe13be4631b82d82186e0d3bd is able to eliminate this problem. The bugfix is ready for download at github.com. The best possible mitigation is suggested to be upgrading to the latest version.
