A vulnerability, which was classified as problematic, has been found in phpBB (Forum Software) (version unknown). This issue affects an unknown function of the file charts.php of the component Chart. The manipulation of the argument id with an unknown input leads to a cross site scripting vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-80. The product receives input from an upstream component, but it does not neutralize or incorrectly neutralizes special characters such as "<", ">", and "&" that could be interpreted as web-scripting elements when they are sent to a downstream component that processes web pages. Cross-site scripting (XSS) vulnerability in charts.php in the Chart mod for phpBB allows remote attackers to inject arbitrary web script or HTML via the id parameter. NOTE: this issue might be resultant from SQL injection.

The weakness was presented 05/15/2006 as not defined posting (Bugtraq). The advisory is shared at securityfocus.com. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2006-2359 since 05/15/2006. The attack may be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is needed for a successful exploitation. It demands that the victim is doing some kind of user interaction. Technical details as well as a public exploit are known. MITRE ATT&CK project uses the attack technique T1059.007 for this issue.
