Linux Kernel up to 6.13.6 hclge_ptp_get_cycle initialization

CVSS Meta Temp Score
CVSS is a standardized scoring system to determine possibilities of attacks. The Temp Score considers temporal factors like disclosure, exploit and countermeasures. The unique Meta Score calculates the average score of different sources to provide a normalized scoring system.
Current Exploit Price (≈)
Our analysts are monitoring exploit markets and are in contact with vulnerability brokers. The range indicates the observed or calculated exploit price to be seen on exploit markets. A good indicator to understand the monetary effort required for and the popularity of an attack.
CTI Interest Score
Our Cyber Threat Intelligence team is monitoring different web sites, mailing lists, exploit markets and social media networks. The CTI Interest Score identifies the interest of attackers and the security community for this specific vulnerability in real-time. A high score indicates an elevated risk to be targeted for this vulnerability.

Detailsinfo

A vulnerability was found in Linux Kernel up to 5.15.178/6.1.130/6.6.82/6.12.18/6.13.6. It has been rated as problematic. Affected by this issue is the function hclge_ptp_get_cycle. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a initialization vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-665. The product does not initialize or incorrectly initializes a resource, which might leave the resource in an unexpected state when it is accessed or used. The impact remains unknown. CVE summarizes:

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: net: hns3: make sure ptp clock is unregister and freed if hclge_ptp_get_cycle returns an error During the initialization of ptp, hclge_ptp_get_cycle might return an error and returned directly without unregister clock and free it. To avoid that, call hclge_ptp_destroy_clock to unregist and free clock if hclge_ptp_get_cycle failed.

The advisory is available at git.kernel.org. This vulnerability is handled as CVE-2025-21924 since 12/29/2024. Technical details are known, but there is no available exploit.
