A vulnerability, which was classified as problematic, has been found in ELLIOTT Net::Xero up to 0.44 on Perl. This issue affects the function Data::random. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a weak prng vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-338. The product uses a Pseudo-Random Number Generator (PRNG) in a security context, but the PRNG's algorithm is not cryptographically strong. Impacted is confidentiality. The summary by CVE is:

Net::Xero 0.044 and earlier for Perl uses the rand() function as the default source of entropy, which is not cryptographically secure, for cryptographic functions. Specifically Net::Xero uses the Data::Random library which specifically states that it is "Useful mostly for test programs". Data::Random uses the rand() function.

The exploitation is known to be difficult. The attack may be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is needed for a successful exploitation.
