A vulnerability, which was classified as problematic, has been found in Eclipse ThreadX up to 6.4.1. Affected by this issue is an unknown part of the component NetXDuo. The product subtracts one value from another, such that the result is less than the minimum allowable integer value, which produces a value that is not equal to the correct result. In NetX Duo component HTTP server functionality of Eclipse ThreadX NetX Duo before version 6.4.3, an attacker can cause an integer underflow and a subsequent denial of service by writing a very large file, by specially crafted packets with Content-Length smaller than the data request size. A possible workaround is to disable HTTP PUT support. This issue follows an uncomplete fix in CVE-2025-0728.
The weakness was disclosed by Kelly Patterson as GHSA-chqp-8vf8-cj25. The advisory is shared for download at github.com. This vulnerability is handled as CVE-2025-2258 since 03/12/2025. The exploitation is known to be easy. The attack may be launched remotely. There are neither technical details nor an exploit publicly available.
Upgrading to version 6.4.2 eliminates this vulnerability. Applying the patch 6c8e9d1c95d71bd4b313e1cc37d8f8841543b248 is able to eliminate this problem. The bugfix is ready for download at github.com. The best possible mitigation is suggested to be upgrading to the latest version.
